My 5-Minute Non-Toxic Makeup Routine

Every girl needs a flawless, 5-Minute, Non-Toxic Makeup Routine in her life. Obviously it can be super fun to do some super glam makeup at times but for every day life I stick to this simple routine.

I have never been someone who likes to spend a lot of time on their makeup. I usually am just ready to get started with my day or I am running late and don’t have time to do much.

If you have followed me for a while you know that I am super passionate about non-toxic living. Since my autoimmune diagnosis several years ago I have worked really hard to not only clean up my diet but also my environment. Over time we have slowly switched over our household cleaning items, laundry items and personal care products.

Why is that important? Your skin is the largest organ in your body and it is a common misconception that what we put on our skin doesn’t get in to our body but that is actually not true.

Every day we use products such as shampoo, soap, deodorant and cosmetics that contain large amounts of toxic chemicals.

Currently the U.S has only banned 30 ingredients from being used in cosmetics and right now it is completely legal for cosmetic companies to use toxic ingredients in their products even if those chemicals are known to cause cancer or other health issues.

This is why I am super excited to be sharing a safer makeup routine with you that ACTUALLY WORKS! I had a friend introduce me to Beautycounter over a year ago and I completely fell in love. Not only do they make a high performing product but also they also intentionally ban over 1,500 questionable or harmful ingredients.

Alright, lets talk about my 5-minute face makeup routine!

Step 1. Prep the Skin

I always recommend you start with a clean and moisturized face. I often put makeup on after the shower and love to use the Rejuvenating Face Cleanser in the shower. I like to moisturize with either the Countermatch Adaptive Lotion or the Brightening Vitamin C Facial Oil.

Step 2. Tint Skin Foundation

This foundation has been a game changer for me. It has great coverage but also feels very light (not greasy). I highly recommend you apply with the Retractable Foundation Brush and apply to center of your face and blend outward. If you want more coverage you can layer with the Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer.

Step 3. Touchup Skin Concealer Pen

Probably the best concealer I have ever used! Apply under your eyes with outward strokes and then use your finger to blend. It is super easy to use and also has great coverage.

Step 4. Color Define Brow Pencil

This brow pencil saves my life! Okay, that may be a little dramatic. I have one super wonky eyebrow from getting stiches as a kid when I cut it open. I have always struggled to get the hairs to stay down and look like my other brow. This pencil has a little bit of wax feeling that helps keep the hairs in place while giving it a defined look. Just draw hairlike strokes on the brow to define the brows. This pencil also lasts a LONG time!

Step 5: Mascara

Really all a girl needs is a good mascara right? I have been switching up between using the Beautycounter Lengthening Mascara and the Volumizing. I sometimes even like to layer them. I like to curl my lashes and do one to two coats of mascara for a full look.

Step 6: Blush

I actually rotate what blush I use depending on what I am wearing or what look I want. I apply it on the apples of my cheeks. Some of my favorites blush shades are the Bloom/Tulip and the Flamingo/Apricot. I am also a huge fan of their Hibiscus Cream Blusher for a dewy look. I don’t usually include bronzer with my 5-minute face but when I want to contour more I use their matte bronzer.

Step. 7 Lip Gloss/Sheer

Typically I rotate between the lip gloss and lip sheer. For a more casual look I like to use the lip gloss and I have been loving the Buff for a neutral look. Just sweep the gloss across your lips and press together.

I also LOVE the Lip Sheer. It goes on so smoothly and is ultra moisturizing. They also test all of their color cosmetics for lead and other heavy metals so I feel safe wearing it.

My 5-Minute Face really does come together in a matter of minutes. Especially once you have your routine down. You can easily expand upon this look and include eye shadow, bronzer, highlighter and eye liner. It usually only take me a couple extra minutes.

Beautycouner recently launched a discounted Flawless in 5 Bundle that you can customize to your skin tone and preference. Be sure to check it out! It is a great way to make the switch to safer makeup at a discounted price.
